The Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man

Do “saved” parents hear the cries and pleadings of their unsaved children being tortured in hell fire? Could a parent endure an eternity of see their unsaved children being tormented in hell fire and not be able to help them? Is this what Jesus meant when He gave the parable of the rich man and Lazarus?

Why do so many ministers, preachers, and even some scholars make an interpretation of the parable of the rich man and Lazarus that brings fear, pain and mental anguish to so many people (Luke 16:19-31)? According to their interpretation, people in heaven can see and hear people in hell. And the people in hell can cry out to parents and loved ones in heaven.

What Can Parents Teach?

Parents will often ask, “What can I teach my children? They learn math, English, history, sports, computer, etc. from their teachers. I don’t have that knowledge or those skills. So what can I teach my children?”

The Proverbs 31 Woman

“Who can find a noble wife” (v. 10)? The word “virtuous” in the King James is better translated “noble” as it is also in Proverbs 12:4 where it talks about a wife of “noble character.” That wife, in Proverbs 12:4 is a crown to her husband, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones – undermines his very foundation (Proverbs. 12:4).

Books and Ledgers

Record keeping is a natural human function. People buy diaries, picture albums, and ledgers. Today people use such things as Facebook, QuickBooks, and Excel to help them remember and to keep records. Most cities have a Hall of Records containing property records, marriage licenses, death records and divorce records.

1 peter 4:14-15

Verse 14 tells us that if we are denounced because of the name of Christ, we are blessed because the Spirit of God and glory will rest upon us. Then in verse 15 Peter wrote that we are not to suffer as a murderer, thief, criminal (wrong doer) or “a troublesome meddler” (NAS) or a “busybody” (KJV).
